CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha’s Jay Marmont has reflected on a dream week following the birth of newborn son Jax and a massive victory in round three of Monster Energy Super X at Campelltown.

Marmont, 28, was at his best in Sydney’s Super X round, qualifying fastest, winning his heat and then racing to two final wins in the Triple Header main event.

After finishing second behind Lawson Bopping in the first final, Marmont sliced past both Dan McCoy and Billy Mackenzie to win final two in a spectacular rhythm section that nobody else was completing in the mains.

A holeshot in the final race cemented his night, taking off to a comfortable win and put himself right in title contention.

“It has been a pretty special week for me and the family,” Marmont said. “I felt pretty confident leading up to the event and I even Tweeted how keen I was to race on Friday night and that is something I never do – I just had that feeling.

“It was nice to finally get some decent weather, a good crowd and a nice track to race on. The CDR Rockstar team and I had worked hard in the lead-up to this series and it was frustrating that the weather didn’t allow us to show our true potential [at the opening rounds].

“It was good to have a round that offered proper racing and a good atmosphere.”

With two rounds remaining, Marmont has climbed to third in the championship standings, just two points off red plate holder Tye Simmonds.
