Monster Energy Super X series general manager Kevin Williams has confirmed that there will not be any additional races in the Under 19s or Michelin Junior Development categories to make up for the cancelled finals in Wollongong last Saturday night.

The support class main events were removed from the program following a dramatic thunderstorm after the qualifying races, which caused a delay in proceedings due to the lightening surrounding the ocean-side WIN Stadium.

“It was a very hard decision that we had to make considering the weather,” Williams told MotoOnline.com.au this afternoon. “We won’t be making up the number of support class races in the series and no points were scored on Saturday night.

“We wouldn’t have been able to make up the Pro [main events] either, if the lightning continued and those events didn’t go ahead.”

Considering the rain-soaked conditions that have affected to series so far this year, it’s now expected that this weekend’s Campbelltown round will feature a Triple Header format for both the Lites and Opens.

The new schedule will be put in place, rather than the Survival schedule that was originally planned for the Lites.

Wollongong’s main events in the Pro classes were reduced to a single 15-lap final for each class, contested instead of the scheduled four-race Survival formal for the Opens and Triple Header for the Lites.

The evening concluded as scheduled at 9.30pm despite the lengthy delays while the storm struck and race organisers worked through the program modifications.
