Practice and qualifying is complete at Wollongong’s second round of the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, inside WIN Stadium.

With overcast conditions only producing light sprinkles of rain during the afternoon, track conditions proved dry, albeit technical with ruts quickly forming through the rhythm sections.

Topping the Pro Open time sheets was CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha’s Jay Marmont with a 35.560, narrowly ahead of Cheyne Boyd (Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing) and American Chris Blose (Hart and Huntington/InsureMyRide Kawasaki).

Championship leader Tye Simmonds completed minimal laps as he endured a technical problem, while JDR Motorex KTM teammate Ryan Marmont was a notable faller during the session.

Marmont and teammate Jake Moss, who was seventh in the session, both debuted a pink livery in support of breast cancer awareness this week.

The JDR team also used pink ODI grips, while selected VonZipper riders were wearing glow pink goggles during the sessions.

The Pro Lites were topped by Monster Kawasaki’s Dean Ferris, with series leader Matt Moss coming in sixth for JDR Motorex KTM in what is his home round for the season.

Completing the top three was Josh Cachia (JDR Motorex KTM) and Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing’s American import Gavin Faith.

Raceline Pirelli Suzuki’s Under 19s series leader Errol Willis comfortably topped the practice session in that category, however arch-rival Joey Savatgy has been ruled out with a broken arm, suffered during training this week.
