Wollongong’s Jay Marmont has promised he will improve upon his eighth place performance at last weekend’s season opener when the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, reaches round two this weekend at WIN Stadium.

Marmont is a hometown favourite in Wollongong and will be looking to rebound from round one’s result, an event that saw him and the CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha team struggle in wet conditions.

“Mud was tough for us in motocross and now it’s the same in Super X,” Marmont admitted. “I’m not happy with how I rode or where I finished and I have to work more on riding and racing in conditions like this.”

Marmont will go back to the drawing board this week in a bid to get his championship challenge back on track this weekend.

“Next week is my home town race in Wollongong and there’s no way I will be riding like that in front of my friends and family, so I have a week to turn it around,” he concluded.

Marmont sits 12 points off round one winner Tye Simmonds in the Pro Open title chase after one of five rounds contested this season.
