Serco Yoshimura Yamaha guest Luke Styke lived up to expectations with a superb second place finish in the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, season opener.

Styke was tipped by sources to be a dark horse for the 2011 title and he met expectations with a fine run of 5-2 finishes for the runner-up position behind title favourite Matt Moss.

“I knew I had prepared well and was ready to race so the weather or the track conditions didn’t really bother me,” he said.

“Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t much fun out there and it was hard work but I was able to keep it on two wheels and get the result I needed.”

Styke was selected to fill-in for Serco regular Ford Dale in the factory Yamaha Pro Lites team during Super X, working hard to make his mark during the series.

This weekend’s Wollongong round will mark the Nowra resident’s home round of the 2011 supercross schedule.
