A wet opening round of the Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, has placed a severe dent in CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha’s Pro Open title prospects.

The team has struggled in muddy conditions all year long in the outdoors, and the supercross opener wasn’t much different, with both Jay Marmont and Jake Moss struggling to make a real impact in Melbourne.

Team manager Craig Dack is aware that the team will have to turn its form around quick if they are to fight for the title – rain, hail or shine.

“Mud in 2011 as been a real issue for us and it’s something we as a team need to look at,” Dack said. “But the guys just had a tough weekend with Jay going down in a first turn pileup and Jake just not getting his flow going on a difficult track.

“With the championship over consecutive weeks we have to move fast and get back on track and with the riders and technical staff we have at CDR, I’m sure you will see a very different performance at round two.”

Marmont crashed on the first lap in the main event before fighting back to eighth, however he now sits 12 points in arrears of first round winner Tye Simmonds with four rounds remaining.

Moss’ night didn’t go any better as he also found the conditions tough and finished in 10th place, well shy of the result he was looking for on debut with the team.
