Serco Yoshimura Yamaha's Luke Styke has high expectations for Super X in his factory role.

Serco Yoshimura Yamaha replacement rider Luke Styke says this year’s Monster Energy Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, marks time for him to turn his career around.

The 19-year-old has been predicted to win races in 2011, joining Kirk Gibbs in the factory Yamaha outfit in the place of injured regular Ford Dale.

Following a number of years with factory support in Yamaha’s development program, Styke was shuffled to privateer status during this year’s outdoors, and looks at his opportunity with Serco as the ultimate chance to prove his skills.

“I have let myself down over the past 12 months, but I have turned the corner and really put in a huge effort to be as fit and as fast for Super X,” Styke explained.

“I had a good year in 2009 and now with the preparation I have done and the best bike in the field, I expect to do well this year.”

Styke joined the team for the final two rounds of the MX Nationals, impressing with a fifth place finish overall at Coolum’s finale, including third place in the final moto of the season.
