Kiwi Josh Coppins will return to Australia for next season with CDR Yamaha.

New Zealander Josh Coppins will remain with the CDR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha team for the 2012 Australian Motocross Championship season.

Coppins confirmed the news via his Twitter account yesterday afternoon, posting “CDR Yamaha 2012 and looking forward to it”.

The 34-year-old is currently in the UK after undergoing shoulder surgery in Belgium last month, scheduled to return to training in time for the New Zealand Motocross Championship.

Coppins finished runner-up in the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals this season behind teammate Jay Marmont, in the box seat to win the title before crashing out of the penultimate moto of the season.

Following a lengthy international career in grand prix racing that latest well over a decade, it’s expected that Coppins will conclude his racing career within the next couple of years while riding for Yamaha in both NZ and Australia.
