Fermo will be somewhat of a victory lap for Cairoli this weekend.

The final round of the FIM Motocross World Championship is set to go down this weekend at Fermo, Italy. While Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing riders Antonio Cairoli and Ken Roczen were both crowned MX1 and MX2 World Champions respectively last weekend at Gaildorf, there is still plenty at stake for the other riders in both classes.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Frossard looks to have the runner up MX1 position secured, due to Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1’s Clement Desalle having to sit out the final round with a shouder injury. However, after double DNF’s last weekend in Germany, he will be looking for redemption and a strong finish to the season.

Meanwhile Cairoli’s team mate, Max Nagl, will be gunning for Desalle’s current third position in the series points.

With Roczen already having the MX2 title under wraps, he will be looking to have fun and round out the series with another victory.

However, team mate Jeffrey Herlings and CLS Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Tommy Searle will both be looking to steal his thunder this weekend.

After losing the title to Roczen, Herlings will do everything in his power to round out the season with the upper hand of some sorts, while Searle is coming off his second overall victory of the season at Gaildorf, and will have momentum on his side as the series comes to a close at Fermo.
