Australia's Brett Metcalfe has been confirmed for the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas.

Fresh from victory at last weekend’s Southwick round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, South Australia’s Brett Metcalfe has been confirmed for the inaugural Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on 15 October.

Riding alongside Ryan Dungey at Rockstar Makita Suzuki, Metcalfe raced to his first career AMA outdoor overall last weekend and is the current national number two in AMA Pro Motocross.

“I am really looking forward to the Monster Energy Cup race in Las Vegas at the end of the season,” said Metcalfe. “I think it’s going to be a great spectacle with a hybrid race track of motocross and supercross obstacles put into one.

“I think it’s going to be great for spectators, and I think that for us racers, just coming off of our outdoor championship, I think it is a much smoother transformation back into supercross by having both genres put together.”

With his confidence now sky-high, Metcalfe admits he’s thinking of the chance to win a million dollars if he can sweep the event.

“I can’t wait to put my Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki out there on the racetrack to have fun and be competitive,” added Metcalfe. “It will be a serious event too and giving myself the chance to win a million bucks is pretty cool because that doesn’t happen every day.

“Looking forward to being a part of it and doing well out there – I can’t wait for it.”

Metcalfe travelled to the U.S. from Australia in 2003 and immediately enjoyed success on the Eastern Regional Supercross Lites tour, finishing fifth overall.

Before moving to the premier AMA Supercross class earlier this year, he finished a career-best third overall in the Eastern Regional Supercross Lites championship.

During his AMA Supercross debut, Metcalfe earned a season-best fifth place at the first-ever race at Oakland-Alameda County Stadium in Oakland.
