Australian Off Road Champion Toby Price remains hospitalised in Adelaide with suspected broken ribs and a kidney injury following a horror South Australian round of the AORC series at Callington over the weekend.

Motorex KTM Off Road Racing’s defending Outright and E2 class champion Price had a disastrous weekend, suffering a DNF on Saturday before crashing out of proceedings on Sunday.

Price has been battling intersection syndrome in his arm during recent events, causing his arm to come off the handlebar once it lost strength mid-race and resulting in a heavy crash.

“It’s disappointing for me, the way the weekend turned out,” Price explained. “It started off tough on the Saturday and then Sunday was even worse when I got injured.

“With two weeks until the next round, it’s going to be hard to get into shape and see if I’ll be ready to go.”

Price now sits seventh Outright in the standings after three non-finishes in 2011, 47 points off the lead with four rounds remaining. He’s also sixth in E2, 61 points out of first position.

“The title looks like it’s pretty well done and dusted for me at the moment – I’d need a miracle for something to go my way at the moment,” he admitted.

“For now I’ll worry about my health and try to get back into shape. Hopefully I can get back on the track before the season’s finished and try to get another win or two.”

It remains uncertain if Price will be fit enough to contest Mt. Seaview round in New South Wales on 10-11 September at this point.
