The 2011 Motul Pirelli Australian Women’s Motocross Championship has been reduced to a one-day event, announced Motorcycling Australia this morning.

Scheduled for Saturday, 27 August at Coolum Pines Motocross Track on the Sunshine Coast, event promoter Fiona Collins explained the revision.

“By having all the racing on the one day it will become a real challenge for the girls to not only perform well, but to stay mentally and physically tough,” Collins said.

“It will make for some fantastic championship racing with all the girls having to lay it on the line if they want to win the most coveted honour in Australian Women’s Motocross.”

Updated Supplementary Regulations and Entry Forms are now available on the MA website at www.ma.org.au/suppregs.

More than 33 riders have been confirmed for the premier class, including a host of big names led by reigning champion Kristy Gillespie and 2010 podium finisher, Kiwi Kimberely Murphy.

A full program of support classes has been included with Junior Girls and Boys, Senior Open and Lites classes all competing.
