Pourcel wins British GP qualifier, Mackenzie seventh on return

Monster Energy CLS Kawasaki’s Christophe Pourcel has won the MX1 qualifying race at the British Grand Prix at Matterley Basin overnight,

Pourcel and Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Frossard starred in an incredible battle for the lead and after exchanging the first position several times, Pourcel crossed the finish line first.

Second was Frossard and third was Red Bull KTM’s Antonio Cairoli, who recovered from sixth place in the early laps.

In his return to grand prix racing, Scotsman Billy Mackenzie raced to seventh in a solid comeback ride after spending two outdoor seasons in Australia.

Ken Roczen won the MX2 qualifying race and Gautier Paulin and Arnaud Tonus were second and third respectively.

Jeffrey Herlings went too wide at the start and went down, which made him start from the dead last position. The runner up of the series managed to finish 22nd.
