Red Bull KTM’s Andrew Short has been forced out of the final rounds of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, injured while testing this week.

Short, currently sitting sixth overall in the 450 Class point standings, was testing in California when the incident happened and he suffered two broken elbows and a broken left wrist.

“It is unfortunate for Andrew that this accident has happened,” said Red Bull KTM team manager Roger DeCoster. “The entire team is deeply disappointed that he is injured so close to the season end.

“Short was just doing his job today and, unfortunately, this is part of the sport. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to have him back on the bike soon.”

Due to his injury, Short will sit out the rest of the season with an estimated eight week recovery period.

Short is expected to return to action with Red Bull KTM at the 2012 AMA Supercross season opener on 7 January at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.
