Australian legend Chad Reed is confident that Team Australia can race to a podium result in France next month.

Australia’s greatest ever dirt bike export Chad Reed is certain that Team Australia stands a strong chance of earning a podium result at the FIM Motocross of Nations in France next month.

Reed was confirmed to be officially returning to the Australian squad in the MX1 class after sitting out last year’s MXoN, joined by Brett Metcalfe in MX3 and Matt Moss in MX2 for Team Australia at St Jean d’Angely on 18 September.

“As an athlete, regardless of the sport, there is no higher honour then to represent your country at the highest level,” Reed said.

“Despite my success I’ve had on three different continents there is still a very special feeling, something very unique about wearing the green and gold for Australia.”

Sporting one of the strongest rider line-ups likely to be assembled in France, Reed is confident the Aussie team can match it with best and fight for a podium finish.

“When you look at the calibre of riders that have missed out it just shows you how strong motocross is in Australia,” Reed added.

“We’ve got Metty riding in the MX1 class, which is fantastic because he’s been consistent on the AMA Motocross scene for years now and has delivered big performances at the MXoN before.

“Also Mossy has been dominating the Pro Lites in Australia for the past few years, so we’ve got great riders right across the board.

“I know it’s going to be tough but I think with the quality we have a podium finish should be our aim.”

Reed currently sits third in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship with three rounds remaining, while Metcalfe is fourth after a solid second half of the season to date.

Moss recently wrapped up his second championship in the Pro Lites category of the MX Nationals in Australia.

Four-time Australian Motocross Champion Jay Marmont has been confirmed as the 450cc reserve rider, while Dean Ferris will make up the team’s 250cc reserve.
