The CRF450 mounted DERT Honda team dominated the 12 Hour Desert Race.

DERT Honda riders Daymon Stokie and David Walsh dominated the ninth running of the annual 12 Hour Desert Race in Alice Springs last weekend on board their Honda CRF450Rs.

The incredibly demanding 12 hour Desert Race takes place on a 35km loop in the desert sands 40km south of Alice Springs. Known as a notoriously rough and very demanding track on bikes and riders alike, the competition kicks off at 8:00am and runs through to 8:00pm.

The 12 Hour Desert Race attracts a lot of high profile Finke teams who also compete in a 12 hour race on an adjacent loop.

Stokie and Walsh lapped the entire field and amassed an impressive 29 laps around the gruelling course, a record number for the team. Believing consistency was key to the win, the duo’s lap times had hardly dropped at the ten hour mark.

“This truly is a gruelling event and I was very impressed with the effort of David, Daymon and the CRF450Rs, it was a categorical win!” team manager Michael Vroom stated.
