GYTR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha’s Luke Arbon admits that he fell short of his goals for the 2011 Under 19s Australian Motocross Championship, now looking to make up for it when Super X starts in October.

Arbon won the opening MX Nationals round and took four moto wins during the season, scoring five additional podium results in his best season yet after joining Yamaha at the beginning of the year.

Third place overall at Coolum’s season finale last weekend was a solid finish to the year, despite missing out on the overall after a crash in moto four forced him to fight back to 18th in that race.

“I wanted to win today and I’m not happy that I didn’t,” Arbon said. “I was just riding through one of the turns when I got hit and spun around and by the time I got up and going again the field was already a long way down the track.

“Second in the championship isn’t quite what I was after, but it is my best finish in the championship and now I can’t wait to get supercross started.”

Arbon will contest the Pro Lites category for Super X, with teammate Shaun Redhead remaining in the Under 19s when that series is introduced for this season.
