Queenslander Shaun Redhead broke through for his first overall win in the Under 19s category of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals last Sunday at Coolum, a strong finish to the season that clinched third in the series for him.

Redhead stunned with victories in the opening two motos for GYTR Rockstar Energy Drink Yamaha, however the third moto saw him forced to bounce back from a first lap crash, racing to 14th.

A win in the final moto was enough to win the round and secure third in the series, a strong way to finish the outdoor season.

“I am stoked to win today. I had such a bad race last weekend at Moree that I wanted to come out here today and set things right and I am pumped I was able to do it,” Redhead said.

“To win the day and finish the championship off in third place is a good way to end the championship and it’s been one of my most consistent years in a while.”

Redhead scored a total of 15 race podiums in 2011, resulting in four overall podiums over nine rounds.
