Italian defending MX1 Motocross World Champion Antonio Cairoli has taken out his first double victory of the year in Latvia’s 10th round at Kegums on Sunday.

It was a perfect weekend for Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Cairoli after winning Saturday’s qualifying race and both of Sunay’s heats.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Frossard was on the second step of the podium thanks to two solid second places, while Honda’s Eugene Bobryshev continued his form by rounding out the podium with 3-3 finishes.

Bobryshev’s teammate Rui Gonçalves enjoyed his best performance of the year for fourth position after claiming 7-4 results. Completing the top five was Monster Energy Yamaha’s Davide Philippaerts.

Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Clement Desalle scored ninth overall despite running in the top five during both motos. In the first race, Desalle touched Frossard’s rear wheel and went down, before making another mistake in moto two.

Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Ken Roczen dominated both MX2 heats with great authority, but in the second one his teammate Jeffrey Herlings managed to lead five laps.

Roczen says he felt comfortable this weekend in Kegums and he is now leading the championship with a 27-point advantage over Herlings.

Herlings finished second overall with 3-2 results, while CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Tommy Searle rounded out the podium with 2-3 finishes.

After missing the top five positions in the last GP, CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Max Anstie succeeded in finishing fourth overall, ahead of American Yamaha rider Zach Osborne.
