Red Bull Teka KTM teammates Antonio Cairoli and Ken Roczen have secured the pole positions in the MX1 and MX2 classes respectively for the 10th GP of the 2011 FIM Motocross World Championship in Latvia.

Cairoli obtained his fourth Lovemytime pole position award in a row, after wining the MX1 qualifying race at the Latvian track.

Cairoli started from an initial third position, but he worked his way to the front and eventually won ahead of title rivals Clement Desalle (Rockstar Suzuki) and Steven Frossard (Monster Energy Yamaha).

Desalle took the holeshot and led the race with authority until Cairoli overtook him with five laps to go, sealing the pole position for Sunday’s race.

Completing the top five in qualifying was Desalle’s teammate Steve Ramon and Cairoli’s teammate Max Nagl, while last weekend’s winner Eugene Bobryshev was sixth for Honda.

Roczen obtained the pole position in MX2 and he will be the first one to choose the starting gate for tomorrow’s races. Roczen took the holeshot of the MX2 qualifying race and dominated the heat until the chequered flag.

His teammate Jeffrey Herlings finished second starting from an initial fourth position, so he will be in a good place at the starting grid to repeat his last year’s overall victory in Latvia.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Guatier Paulin clinched the best lap time of the pre-qualifying practice and he finished the race in third.

CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Max Anstie was back fighting for the top positions of the qualifying race and he succeeded in finishing fourth ahead of his teammate Tommy Searle.
