Reed eager to get back to business following Bahamas vacation

Not even a vacation in the Bahamas will be able to slow down Aussie Chad Reed in the U.S.

Not even a vacation in the Bahamas will be able to slow down Aussie Chad Reed in the U.S.

Australia’s Chad Reed admits he’s eager to get back into the saddle of his TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing Honda CRF450R following a week in the Bahamas.

The Aussie legend will get back to business this weekend at Spring Creek for the seventh round of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, intending to assert himself as the man to beat in the points race.

Despite his stats of four wins from six rounds in the first half of the season, Reed acknowledged there was lots more work to be done to retain his spot at the top of the standings.

“Week in, week out I need to keep getting these results,” said Reed. “If I’m not winning, then one of the two Ryan’s is winning and I can’t afford to relax or stop putting the pressure on them.

“I’m happy with our transition direct from Supercross to motocross – it’s a different environment and as a young team we’re still finding our feet somewhat.

“The bike continues to get better as we get more races under our belt and learn from what works and what doesn’t.

“It’s been great to have a week away from the track and day after day of moto’s but I’ll admit I’ve missed it and I’m itching to get back on the bike for Spring Creek this weekend.”

Reed has never won at the Spring Creek facility in Millville and will need to tackle its dramatic elevation changes and infamous sand whoops head on to notch up a victory. His current lead in the series stands at 16 with six rounds to run.

Australian viewers can catch the Spring Creek National live on SPEED TV from 7.00am-9.00am this Sunday morning. A replay will follow from 5.30pm-7.00pm.
