Desalle braves pain for return to MX1 podium in German Grand Prix

Desalle battled mutliple injuries to come away with a podium in Germany.

Desalle battled mutliple injuries to leave Germany with a podium.

Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1’s Clement Desalle has pushed through injury problems to put himself on the podium at the German Grand Prix on the weekend, effectively keeping his championship hopes alive.

Despite battling injuries to both shoulders, as well as a knee and hand injury, Desalle was able to card 5-3 moto finishes for third overall on the day.

Decent starts and a smooth attack on the rough Teutschenthal circuit were the key to the Belgian’s solid results.

While not being pleased to lose more points to current series leader, Red Bull Teka KTM’s Antonio Cairoli, it is a result that keeps him within striking distance as he lets his body heal.

“It was another difficult weekend for me. I was not feeling good after the qualification yesterday and it was hard with all the small injuries to keep a good feeling on the bike today,” Desalle commented.

“That is the key for me. If I can find the feeling and enjoy my riding then of course I will be fast. I’m not so happy with my current situation but it is good to come back on the podium!

Looking to gain strength again before heading to Latvia for round ten of the MX1 Motocross World Championship, Desalle currently sits second in the series points, trailing Cairoli by 18 points.
