Bobryshev's win marked the first GP victory for Russia in 30 years.

Honda World Motocross’s Evgeny Bobryshev and Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing’s Ken Roczen have come away victorious at round nine of the FIM Motocross World Championship at Teutschenthal, Germany.

The event marked a special race for both riders, with Bobryshev taking his first ever MX1 round win and Roczen taking the MX2 victory in front of a home crowd.

For Bobryshev, his maiden win at the German GP carries even more significance, with the Russian rider putting his nation’s flag on the top step of the MX1 podium for the first time in 30 years.

Bobryshev carded 1-1 moto scores on the day for a dominating performance, but it wasn’t without pressure from Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli.

Race one saw the Russian ride to a relatively easy win after Cairoli made a mistake while running second, however race two saw the Italian KTM rider push Bobryshev right to the line. The Russian Honda pilot hung tough under the pressure however, even fighting off a last corner last lap move by Cairoli to secure the moto and round victory.

Third overall for the Grand Prix went to Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1’s Clement Desalle, posting 5-3 race finishes for the final podium position. Germany saw a huge effort from the Belgian, as he battled injuries to both shoulders, his knee and hand to stay within reach of Cairoli in the championship race.

Honda World Motocross’ Rui Concalves and Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing’s Max Nagl rounded out the top five for the event.

As the MX1 Grand Prix series heads to round ten in Latvia, Cairoli currently leads the championship, still followed closely by Desalle, who remains only 18 points in tow.

The MX2 class at Teutschenthal saw local hero, Germany’s Ken Roczen grab the overall win, but only by the smallest of margins.

After dominating the first race, race two saw the Red Bull Teka KTM rider go down, handing the lead to Monster Energy Yamaha’s Gautier Paulin. Paulin grabbed the lead and ran with it, followed by CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Tommy Searle.

Roczen was able to push hard to finish moto two in third position, just grabbing him the overall victory from Paulin and Searle.

Roczen’s team mate Jeffrey Herlings took fourth overall for the day, followed by Bike-It Cosworth Yamaha’s Arnaud Tonus who rounded out the top five for the German GP.

Roczen now leads the MX2 championship by 19 points over Herlings, with Searle holding down third as the series moves to round ten in Latvia.
