Former national champion Dan Reardon is becoming increasingly frustrated with the wrist injury that has ruined his return to Australian in the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals during 2011.

Reardon has struggled for much of the season with JDR Motorex KTM, a crash during Appin’s second round of the series badly injuring his wrist.

A moto victory at Raymond Terrace’s third round was the highlight for the Queenslander, but since then, even a switch from KTM’s 350 SX-F to the 450 hasn’t reversed his fortunes.

“I had a crash at the second round and since then I’ve been battling with a wrist and forearm injury,” Reardon explained. “It continues to get worse and worse, so I’m not in a good spot right now.

“I didn’t get to finish the last two motos [at Wodonga], but it’s just the point that I need to get it fixed and figure out what really is going on because it’s definitely not me out there.

“I’m looking forward to that and we’ve got three weeks off so hopefully we can do something in the next three weeks. If not, I don’t know, we’ll have to see what happens.”

Reardon will visit specialists before Moree’s penultimate round of 2011, and he hasn’t ruled out the possibility that he may have to sit out the final rounds in order to regain fitness for Super X.

Following the opening seven rounds of the series, Reardon sits a disastrous 10th in the standings after entering the season as a legitimate title contender.
