CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha’s three-time Australian Motocross Champion Jay Marmont has spoken out about his second consecutive win in round seven of the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals series.

The 28-year-old from Wollongong in New South Wales was again performing at his very best during the Wodonga round on Sunday, finishing with 1-3-7-1 finishes across the day’s four-moto format.

Marmont proved the man to beat from the first race of the weekend, dominating the first moto before going on to score third in moto two after working his way through the field.

Later that afternoon in the final pair of back-to-back motos for the round, Marmont had to settle for seventh in moto three after clashing with teammate Josh Coppins in wet conditions, but managed to bounce back for a stunning win in the final outing.

“The weekend was good for me again and I was able to come out with a win,” Marmont reflected. “In that last race, to get the overall, I just had the eye of the tiger and I only had one vision.

“I didn’t care who was in front of me, I just wanted to get through them. I got to the front and as it turned out, I got the overall. I’m very happy with where I am right now, so I’ll try and keep this momentum into Moree.

“The team has been working really hard together and I’m just really happy with where we are at right now with the YZ450F, so I have to thank them for all that effort.”

Marmont now sits fourth in the standings, narrowing the gap from the series leader to 32 points with just two rounds remaining.

The series will continue at Moree in New South Wales on Sunday, 24 July.
