Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Dean Ferris is adamant that he’ll learn from his fifth position in yesterday’s seventh round of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals at Wodonga in Victoria.

Ferris maintained his red plate as series leader in the premier Pro Open category, and his scorecard of 9-9-2-5 results actually saw him extend his advantage in the standings by another valuable point.

“Everybody has one bad round, if this was mine then I’m not doing too badly,” Ferris said.

“I kind of struggled out there today. The track was just so basic so everybody was going so fast. If you got a bad start then it was really hard to come through.

“It rained at lunch and that made the track more technical which helped. I’ll put this round in my back pocket and learn from it.”

Ferris today turns 21, the rising Australian Motocross star holding onto the Pro Open points lead against some of the world’s best since round four this season.
