Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Kirk Gibbs says he’s going back to basics in the Pro Lites category of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals following a disastrous round at Coonabarabran a fortnight ago.

Gibbs’ title charge took a huge hit as he was credited 10th overall after crashing out of the opening moto at round six, now sitting 54 points in arrears of series leader Matt Moss.

“I took a few days off after Coonabarabran to just clear my head and get back to basics,” Gibbs commented.

“After the break, I feel a bit fresher on the bike and I’m just going into the final few rounds with the same game plan I had at the start season.

“It worked then so there is no reason why it shouldn’t work now.”

Gibbs remains the lone rider this season to win all four Pro Lites motos in the one round, achieving that feat at his home round in South Australia.
