Will time spent with Glen Bell help him take victory at Wodonga on Sunday for Honda?

Victorian Cheyne Boyd believes that time spent with Australian motocross legend Glen Bell could give him that final “one percent” that he needs in order to challenge for victory in the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals.

Boyd and Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing teammates Todd Waters and Michael Phillips spent four days testing with 11-time national champion Bell in the lead-up to Wodonga’s seventh round in Victoria this weekend, boosting Boyd’s confidence.

“We took a different approach to testing last week,” Boyd said. “We all spent a few days working with Glen Bell which was amazing. We are definitely progressing and making ground each week.

“I feel that we have ticked every box with the bike, I am fast enough and I have improved my starts so now it is time to put it all together and come out with a result.

“Sometimes it takes a fresh set of eyes to help you find that extra one percent and I think working with Glen really helped.”

Boyd currently sits fifth in the Pro Open standings, 77 points in arrears of series leader Dean Ferris.
