Grabham pushed through pain to take his fourth win at Finke.

To win the Finke Desert Race four times is an tough feat in anyone’s books, but Motorex KTM Off Road Racing’s Ben Grabham managed to make it even tougher, after winning the 2011 event with a broken hand.

Grabham was leading a battle with team mate Toby Price, who also had his own misfortunes later in the day with a mechanical failure, when a crash at the 160 kilometre mark left him with a fractured hand.

Despite the pain, Grabham was able to remount and finish the push through the pain rest for the remaining distance to Finke and back, rewarding his team’s hardwork with another win, followed home by other team mate, Finke rookie Jarrod Bewley.

“My hand was sore when we got to Finke, but I brought it home in one piece and I was just so happy to win with KTM taking a 1-2 finish. After last year it was good to get back up front and take that number one plate again. You just can’t take anything for granted at the Finke.”

Grabham’s team manager Brad Williscroft was full of praise for Grabham after his efforts.

“You can’t say enough about the heart of Grabbo, it was an unbelievable ride by him with a broken hand,” Williscroft exclaimed.

“To come away with another 1-2 for KTM, three years in a row now, is an awesome feeling for everybody involved in the team.”

Grabham and the team will now turn their attention to the Hattah Desert Race on 2-3 July.
