Dungog rounds of AORC series postponed due to excessive rain

This weekend's AORC rounds at Dungog have been postponed due to excessive rain.

This weekend’s fifth and sixth rounds of the 2011 Yamaha Australian Off Road Championship (AORC) at Dungog in New South Wales have been postponed due to excessive rain.

According to Motorcycling Australia, the AORC rounds have been postponed along with the New South Wales Senior and Junior State Enduro Championship rounds slated for the weekend of 18-19 June.

Yamaha AORC co-ordinator Denise Hore explained how rain had once again wreaked havoc on the AORC.

“The rain has done it again!” Hore said. “A few years ago, we had issues with dust, however this season – just like in 2010 we’ve had more rain than we’d like.

“The environmental impact of running an event in these conditions would be far too great, and as such the call has been made to postpone the rounds.

“The Dungog Motorcycle Club is currently working with the Department of Forestry to reschedule the dates, and as soon as we have something locked in we’ll make the announcement.

“It is disappointing to have to reschedule another round, however as the Enduro community well knows through the postponement of the A4DE and earlier AORC rounds, our discipline is well and truly at the mercy of the weather.”

For yesterday’s Finke Desert Race winner Ben Grabham the postponement will come as a blessing in disguise, the 29-year-old winning Finke with a broken hand before being uncertain for this weekend’s AORC round.

Stay tuned for more information to come when we have it.
