Reports are emerging out of Alice Springs that Australian Speedway ace Leigh Adams has suffered serious injuries an incident while preparing for this weekend’s Finke Desert Race.
Adams, who is from Mildura in Victoria and retired from Speedway competition at the end of last season, is reported to have been transported by air from Alice Springs to Adelaide Hospital.
It’s suspected, yet not officially confirmed, that Adams has spinal injuries following the incident, however we’ll endevour to provide more information as it becomes available.

Further information has been reported on the condition of Leigh Adams, the 40-year-old seriously injured while training for this weekend’s Finke Desert Race.
It’s believed Adams rode into a dry creek bed during a practice ride at around 1.00pm, the incident happening in a rocky section of the creek bed.
It took nearly five hours for paramedics to bring him back to hospital by ambulance where he was assessed by a medical team from around 6.00pm.
It took several more hours to stabilise him to a level where he could be transported by air ambulance to Adelaide, where he arrived around midnight.
Sources close to the family indicated that Adams had suffered two punctured lungs, several broken ribs, a broken back and suspected spinal damage, according to the Mildura Independent.
Adams underwent further surgery on Wednesday and doctors have indicated it could be a long path to recovery, the paper reported.
