Team 07 Axis Honda Motorsport rider Dylan Peterson has broken his collarbone in a training incident that will force him to out of round five of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals at Toowoomba this weekend.

Peterson, who has been steadily progressing up the championship points table, currently sits third in the championship race and was looking forward to returning to the place where he recorded his first race win at a national level.

“I am extremely bummed out that this has happened as the team was pumped and the bikes primed to mount a challenge for the championship in the last half of the season,” Peterson said.

“Missing this round doesn’t rule me out of the championship race, but I am going to have to basically lay it all on the line over the remaining rounds and hope a couple of results fall my way to make an impact.”

Team 07 Axis Honda co-owner Mark Haughton was also disappointed, however hopes Peterson can make a healthy return in the coming rounds.

“Although it is the nature of the sport it doesn’t make it any easier on the team after all the work and effort we have put in,” he said. “Dylan is on the team to win championships, so come round six at Coonabarabran it will be business as usual for Peterson providing he is healthy.”

Peterson also thanked his sponsors Fox, Oakley, Alpine Stars, Holcim, Cars R Us, LKI, RPM Transport and 07 Axis for their continued support.
