Desalle and Roczen sweep Glen Helen's United States GP

Clement Desalle dominated with both MX1 moto wins at Glen Helen on Monday in California.

Under mixed conditions where heavy morning rain turned the Glen Helen circuit into a rough and sketchy circuit Clement Desalle has dominated the United States Grand Prix with a stunning 1-1 result.

The Rockstar Suzuki rider showed great speed to win the latest round of the World MX1 Championship. Second in the MX1 was Max Nagl and third overall was Evgeny Bobryshev.

The MX1 class saw Desalle dominate, winning both motos despite a challenge from world champion Antonio Cairoli in race one and taking over the series lead.

“Yes, it was good racing for me, yesterday I won and today both motos and I have never done that before,” Desalle said.

“It’s important because the track was dangerous and sometimes you have to make a quick decision and something that decision can be important.

“It was a really good day for me. Sure, I take this really positive going to Brazil. I try and get the start in Brazil and not crash, we try and do the same as here.”

Former series leader, Yamaha rookie Steven Frossard, finished outside th etop 10 at Glen Helen.

Meanwhile, Red Bull KTM’s Cairoli finished fifth overall after crashing on the opening lap of moto two.

In the MX2 class Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen was actually even more dominant, winning his two motos easily and clearing out in the two motos, winning from Jeffrey Herlings and Tommy Searle.

Roczen won moto one from Herlings and Max Anstie, before it was Searle who jumped up to the final podium position in race two.

“I was for sure going for the win in both motos and I knew Jeffrey would be fast, but we all rode a smart race because the dirt was sketchy,” Roczen said.

“When I saw the track I was in shock and I heard in California that it doesn’t rain and the track was a mess, but it dried out okay.”

With his result, Roczen now leads the world championship by 14 points over Herlings.
