Aussie star Chad Reed sits nine points off the AMA Supercross lead following Salt Lake City.

Australia’s Chad Reed admits he has nothing to lose entering this weekend’s Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, season finale in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Reed has been relentless in his pursuit for the title since forming his own TwoTwo Motorsports/Bel-Ray Racing team for 2011, and he believes the series is far from over as he trails Monster Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto by nine points after 16 rounds.

The dual series champion finished second at the penultimate round of the season at Salt Lake City’s Rice Eccles Stadium over the weekend, his 10th podium of the year.

However a victory by Villopto was exactly what Reed didn’t need, and he says he wasn’t 100 percent satisfied with his performance in SLC.

After Villopoto made his way past on lap eight of 20, Reed pushed hard over the closing laps but was unable to make a clean pass and crossed the chequered flag just .95 of a second behind his title rival.

“I was a bit disappointed with myself tonight.” Reed admitted. “I had a great heat race but I don’t think I rode hard enough from the start of the main. It could have been a better day but I am still in it and the pressure is all on Ryan from here.

“Vegas is without a doubt my favourite event on the calendar and I have nothing to lose. I will hang it all the line and see where we end up. This years series has seen more twists and turns than any other so I doubt it is over yet,” Reed concluded.

The final instalment of the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross Series, an FIM World Championship to play out at Las Vegas Sam Boyd Stadium on Saturday, 7 May.
