Privateer outfit Team 07 Axis Motorsports Honda took out their first overall round win at the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals at Barleigh Ranch on the weekend with Under 19s rider Dylan Peterson.

Peterson was able to break through for his first overall after scoring 2-1-4-1 results on Sunday, and he was stoked with his performance as he repaid the team for their hard work.

“I worked all week on getting my starts right and when it came together I just felt so good,” he said. “My bike has never felt better and I was so happy with all the boys on the team who I must say work so hard for me.

“I was pumped to get the win for them. Plenty more to come.”

Team co-owners Mark Haughton was excited to watch on as Peterson raced to the victory.

“I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed watching Peterson getting around today,” he said. “I first approached him three years ago at a national round at Albury to come join our team after watching him ride from a distant last place to sixth at a national round and saw something there.

“Today has seen the work the team and Peterson finally come together as an awesome package with an awesome result.”

Experienced tuner Andrew Hopson, co-owner of the team and boss of Axis Motorsports, was also happy to see Peterson win.

“I am happy for Dylan – this is a long overdue win for him,” he added. “He is the fastest guy out there. If his starts stay consistent there is no reason he cannot come home strongly in the championship.”

Pro Lites riders Kieran Hall and Cody Mackie also added to the day with 5th and 7th overall respectively.
