Vale Paul Broomfield

Australian motocross personality Paul Broomfield passed away this morning following severe complications with a bone marrow transplant.

The 35-year-old former racer and well respected motocross coach had been battling a rare blood disorder in recent months, passing away after being diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia.

Broomfield underwent a bone marrow transplant last month, however it ultimately proved unsuccessful in a sad story that has rocked the Australian motorcycle industry.

Following his racing career Broomfield was also the motocross editor of Australasian Dirt Bike magazine.

During his racing career Broomfield was a member of the Australian team at the Motocross of Nations and also managed the Australian team at the 2010 Junior World Motocross Championship.

Paul is survived by his wife and children and will be sorely missed.

Funeral details:
12:15pm Monday, 18 April
Macquarie Park Crematorium (on Plassey Rd, North Ryde, NSW)
It will take place at the Palm Chapel.

Motorcycling Australia has advised that Broomfield’s family wants to celebrate his life, and therefore requests attendees turn up in riding jerseys, team shirts, etc to brighten up the day.
