Victorian Cheyne Boyd has admitted its time to reset following a frustrating opening three rounds of the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals.

A rejuvenated Boyd was considered a pre-season title favourite entering this season Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing, but again at Raymond Terrace on Sunday he said he lacked vital pieces of the puzzle in order to realise his winning potential.

Boyd was fifth overall for the round and now sits fourth in championship and just nine points behind former teammate Jay Marmont.

While Boyd had a consistent day, finishing the four fifteen-minute Pro Open moto’s – sixth, fifth, fourth and fourth, he said his starts were still letting him down.

“I had a better day today but I still wasn’t feeling 100 percent,” Boyd said. “My starts were shocking. Each race I had to come through, I really don’t know why I am having so much trouble.

“On the plus side I was consistent, I came through the first corner and moved forward through each race.

“For me, the priority right now is to get on top of my energy. It is time to reset.

I want to be winning more than anything and I have the motivation I just need to hone my energy.”

Boyd, a former national number two, will now focus on continuing development of his factory Honda CRF450R between now and next month’s Murray Bridge round.
