Serco Yoshimura Yamaha’s Kirk Gibbs is aiming to improve his starts in a bid to win races during the 2011 Pro Lites MX Nationals season.

Gibbs raced to a solid podium result on Sunday at Appin in second overall with 2-2-4-5 results, boosting him to second in the title chase after taking sixth at round one.

“Overall, today was good and it was nice to be back on the podium again,” Gibbs said.

“If I had to pick where things need to improve is my starts so I can give myself every chance of winning a race or two instead of coming from mid-pack.

“The good thing is I have made up plenty of points and moved to second in the championship and the next couple of rounds at Raymond Terrace and Murray Bridge are some of my favourite tracks.”

Teammate Ford Dale finished sixth overall on Sunday, while Jake Moss returned from injury but was forced to pull out of the day’s final moto through shoulder pain.
