JDR Motorsports team boss Jay Rynenberg will watch his Australian-based JDR Motorex KTM team in action for the first time this season at the Appin round of the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals on Sunday.

Rynenberg’s JDR Motorsports outfit is this season running both an Australian domestic team as well as an American-based AMA Supercross and Motocross team, and he looks forward to watching on at Appin after a successful season opener for the team.

“I’m really, really pumped to be out here for the Appin round this weekend,” Rynenberg enthused after returning to Sydney from California earlier this week. “The boys made a statement at the first round by going 1-2-3 in the Lites.

“One of the highlights for me was watching Ryan do so well in the Opens as he progresses as a rookie. I’m also looking forward to Dan showing what he’s truly capable of.”

With the added advantages – and pressure – of running two teams on opposite sites of the world, Rynenberg says he’s enjoying the challenge and learning experience to date.

“JDR Australia is the best it’s ever been so it’s a really exciting time for us right now,” he said. “We have changed everything a little this year, even the way we structure the team, learning from our U.S. experience – it’s all been upgraded.

“We’re trying to apply the best of both worlds here and in the U.S. so we can continue to improve in both countries.”

The JDR Motorex KTM team will contest this weekend’s second round of the year at Appin with the added confidence of a hometown advantage on their side.

With JDR Motorsports’ Australian operation based out of Emu Plains, round two will mark a local round of sorts for the all-star five-rider team.

The JDR Motorex KTM team’s Lites division scored a clean-sweep of the podium at Broadford’s season opener last month in Victoria using the 250 SX-F, the round won by 2009 champion Matt Moss ahead of teammates Brenden Harrison and last year’s Under 19s champion Josh Cachia.

A promising debut from former Lites champion Ryan Marmont in his Pro Open debut at round one also proved a popular result for the team in fifth, with both Marmont and ex-Pro Open champion teammate Dan Reardon (11th at Broadford) confident the best is yet to come aboard the revolutionary 350 SX-F.

For both Moss and Marmont, the Appin round marks their local round on the calendar as the pair reside on the South Coast from Sussex Inlet and Wollongong respectively.

Another KTM-mounted contender to impress at the season opener in the premier Pro Open class was Louis Calvin (Mandurah City KTM), who scored a superb top 10 result in eighth overall, while Lewis Woods (Top Gear KTM) was a solid 12th.
