Aussie Chad Reed says Daytona wasn't one of his best rides this season, but still finished second.

Dual World and AMA Supercross Champion Chad Reed may have continued his run of AMA Supercross podium results at Daytona on Saturday night, but the Aussie has stated that it wasn’t one of his best rides this season.

The podium result is Reed’s fifth since launching his own team TwoTwo Motorports/Bel-Ray Racing just three months ago.

The three-time Daytona Supercross winner, who was fourth in his heat admitted to struggling with his starts tonight.

“That wasn’t my best ride,” Reed said. “I felt off tonight but I fought through to second and consistency is what wins championships so I’ll take it.

“I was disappointed I didn’t get off the line better and to be honest once I was out there I didn’t get going quick enough. I don’t know why.

“Daytona is one of my favourite races – its always a real racers track. It changes radically from lap-to-lap so you need to remain alert and not allow yourself to become complacent otherwise it can bite you,” he added

Reed sits third in the standings and is just one point off rival James Stewart in the fight for second.

The next round of the Monster Energy Supercross an FIM World Championship will be held at Indianapolis Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday night.
