Staring: WSBK races were good training for Superstock

Australian Superbike Champion Bryan Staring believes his wild card appearance in last weekend’s Superbike World Championship round at Phillip Island will pay huge dividends when the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup commences in Europe next month.

Staring enjoyed a one-off outing for Pedercini Kawasaki aboard the all-new ZX-10R in Superbike spec at his home round, but he’ll now turn his attention to the Superstock machine after scoring 15-17 results on Sunday in Victoria.

“The first race was good as I managed to enter into the championship points,” Staring commented. “I had fun fighting with the other riders and riding for the full distance.

“For the second race we changed the bike a little, but even though I had a good feeling, this was the most I could do today.

“These races were good training for me, considering my year ahead in Superstock. Thank you very much to all my team who has worked so hard this weekend.”

The results came despite the 24-year-old suffering a heavy highside in the morning warm-up before the pair of 22-lap races.

Staring will head a three-rider Superstock team for the Italian Pedercini squad this season alongside Marco Bussolotti and Leandro Mercado.
