CycleOnline.com.au/Gobert Motorsports rider Aaron Gobert raced to his first victory on home soil in the Australian Supersport Championship race this morning held in damp conditions at Phillip Island.

The win in the 12-lap race handed Gobert a popular overall victory aboard his privateer Yamaha YZF-R6 by 6.888 seconds, his 4-1 result enough to edge out factory Yamaha rider Kevin Curtain’s 2-2.

Rounding out the overall podium was Team Suzuki’s latest signing Brodie Waters, recovering from an early-race off-track excursion to take seventh. Waters won race one yesterday.

Today’s second leg saw Queenslander Blake Leigh-Smith take his first national Supersport podium in third aboard a Suzuki.

Leigh-Smith finished fifth overall behind Mitchell Carr, who was fourth on Sunday after scoring a solid third in Saturday’s race.
