Hepburn Motorsports BMW’s Glenn Allerton has scored a historic first victory for the S 1000 RR on debut in the Viking Group Australian Superbike Championship.

The 2008 ASBK title winner opted for slick tyres on a drying circuit despite wet conditions, slicing himself through the field to win by over 20 seconds ahead of i-Style The Natural Aprilia’s Ben Attard – making it a Euro 1-2 to commence the weekend.

Third was title favourite Wayne Maxwell, who lead early on wet weather tyres for Team Honda Racing, but eventually settled for position ahead of Team Suzuki rookie Troy Herfoss and Craig Coxhell (Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing).

Top Prostock finisher was Victorian veteran John Phelan on his Mornington Kawasaki ZX-10R.

The second race of the Superbikes will take place at 2:30pm this afternoon following World Supersport.
