Waters in doubt for MX Nationals opener with wrist injury

Queenslander Todd Waters could be forced out of Broadford after injuring his wrist on Friday.

Carlton Dry Honda Racing’s Todd Waters could be forced out of Broadford’s opening round of the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals after suffering a wrist injury on Friday.

With the series set to commence in less than a month’s time in Victoria on 13 March, reports are circulating that the talented young Queenslander broke his wrist in a practice crash.

Last season, Waters was in contention for the title until a devastating fall at the Toowoomba round of the MX Nationals saw him suffer a broken collarbone, derailing his title hopes despite undergoing surgery to plate the bone directly afterwards.

If Waters is in fact ruled out of the first round it will come as a massive blow to the Melbourne-based Carlton Dry Honda Racing team, which is focusing on the Pro Open class this year with Waters and new signing Cheyne Boyd.

An official statement confirming Waters’ injury is due to be released during the week after he undergoes further tests on Monday.
