Ken Roczen earned his maiden AMA podium at just 16 years of age last weekend.

Rookie wonder Ken Roczen says he’s excited for what’s to come after scoring his maiden Supercross Lites podium at the Anaheim 2 round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship on Saturday night.

The 16-year-old Red Bull KTM rider finished third behind series leader Josh Hansen and Eli Tomac, battling for the lead in the early stages of the race after setting the fastest Lites lap of the night.

“I liked the track right from the start today. It really suited my style and I was able to throw some pretty big whips right from the start,” the talented German teenager said.

“It feels really good to be on the podium and to put a solid race together. This was the first race where I did not suffer from arm pump and I also didn’t crash in the main event.

“I am very happy to finish safely and run the pace of the top guys. This is a step in the right direction and I’m excited for the next round.”

Roczen will take a break from the West Lites Supercross Series this next weekend and return to action when the series heads to San Diego on 19 February.

Following his Supercross campaign, current world number two Roczen will return to Europe for the MX2 Motocross World Championship season.
