Multiple world and AMA champion Chad Reed believes that he can contend for victory at this weekend’s Anaheim 2 round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, if he can start the main event stronger at Angel Stadium on Saturday night.

Reed earned his maiden podium at Oakland last weekend as team owner/rider of TwoTwo Motorsports, now hoping to improve from second to first after another positive week of testing in California.

“Making the podium in Oakland was a huge achievement for us considering we have only been together as a team for a few months,” said Reed.

“I worked hard for the result but feel like I still have much more to give. I’m in the best shape that I feel I have ever been in and have still been going strong at the finish of each race.

“If I can ride at this pace from the start I know I can go the distance with the leaders.”

Anaheim 1 was the site of his debut race as the owner of TwoTwo Motorsports, where he finished fifth.

“It’s only been a few weeks but we have come so far since the opener at A1 and are approaching this round armed with a lot more knowledge about the bike, what the track will be like and the form of the other riders,” the Aussie added.

Reed is one of the series’ most consistent riders, and has only finished outside the top five once across the first four rounds.

He is currently placed fifth, just a point shy of Trey Canard and only eight points off defending champion Ryan Dungey.
