Aussie Chad Reed says there are no excuses heading into the Oakland round.

Australian Chad Reed has admitted there will be no excuses come this Saturday night’s Oakland round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.

The team owner/rider who came from over half a lap down to finish seventh in last weekend’s event, is happy with the progress the team is making with the Honda CRF450R.

While last weekends finishing position didn’t reflect the progress made, Reed feels that another day of suspension testing this week has put them in a good position for a podium this weekend.

“Oakland will be the second weekend in a row where we experience a completely new venue and it will certainly mix things up a bit. These new venues make for a good change in the championship,” Reed said.

“I believe it will be an extremely sandy track and as such, will become rough during the nights racing which suits me fine.

“It is crunch time. We have all the pieces in place, so now it’s time for me to start getting podiums and there are no excuses.

“We could have been there last weekend and we have to be there this weekend.”

The proud Australian will don commemorative green and gold Shift riding attire in honour of Australia Day.
