AORC dates revised following Queensland floods

Rounds three and four of the AORC have been moved from Queensland to Victoria for March.

Rounds three and four of the AORC have been moved from Queensland to Victoria for March.

As a result of the catastrophic flooding in Queensland recently, the third and fourth rounds of the 2011 Australian Off Road Championship (AORC) originally slated for 19-20 March at Goomburra, Queensland, have been moved.

The round will now take place on 28-29 May at Hedley in Victoria and will be hosted by the Corner Inlet Motorcycle Club.

Event coordinator Denise Hore said that after speaking with the organiser for the Queensland round, it was clear that damage to the property caused by the recent floods was too significant for the events to go ahead.

“It’s such a shame that we’ve had to move the rounds, however, damage to the property was just too great for us to proceed as planned,” Hore said.

“Apparently there has been significant damage to roads on the property, completely restricting access for Ambulances, and it would even be difficult to land a helicopter.

“With this in mind, the rounds have been moved and I’m confident that the Corner Inlet Motorcycle Club will do an excellent job in hosting the national championship alongside their state round.”

Motorcycling Queensland have also announced that the Queensland 2 Day Enduro has also been cancelled due to the damage caused by recent floods.

Supplementary regulations and entry forms for the championship are due to be released shortly.
