Australian Road and Track Rider Promotions has revealed that its premier series will now run under the name of the Australian FX-Superbike Championship, becoming a six-round series for the 2011 season.

The major revision is the addition of a third Eastern Creek round in the series, set to mark the season finale in November.

The date will remain the same as the previous final round scheduled for Wakefield Park, however the Wakefield event has now been moved to October.

Interestingly, the final two rounds of the AFXSBK series will become two-day events, although a Friday practice is being considered.

“We have taken on board the many comments we have received from competitors before expanding the series to six rounds and we believe this will make the FX-Superbike Championship even more attractive to many racers who want to compete in an affordable level playing field championship that provides massive track time and lots of racing,” ARTRP managing director Terry O’Neill commented.

“The average competitor who races in the six FX-Superbike Championship weekends of racing in 2011 will compete in roughly thirty-six actual races and many of them no matter what class your in will be televised nationally on both free to air TV and Pay TV.”

“We keep hearing the same message time after time from competitors that they need to keep their racing costs down to a sustainable level in these uncertain times but still want to go racing in a professionally run series.

“From all the information we have at hand we believe we will provide the most affordable by far fun series there is in Australia today for the majority of competitors and we at ARTRP are very much looking forward to the start of the new race season in 2011 at Eastern Creek Raceway in early March.”

The Australian Formula Xtreme Championship (AFXC) – which was the winter series this year – will now be contested as part of the Winton Summer Challenge December Extravaganza event on 16-18 December.

That event also marks the single-round Australasian FX-Motocross Championship.

ARTRP’s previous plan of holding a three-round summer series has been scrapped in favour of the one-off road/dirt weekend, combining both road racing and Motocross at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria.

ARTRP are looking at expanding the concept in 2011 to include several other categories of competition to make the event even bigger.

This year’s ‘Extravaganza’ event will take place at Winton this weekend.
