Jamie Stauffer and Wayne Maxwell have been confirmed for Team Honda Racing’s Australian Superbike Championship campaign in 2011.

Stauffer will remain with the Motologic-run team for a second season in succession, while Maxwell will return to the team after a year away this season with the Demolition Plus GAS Honda Racing outfit.

“I’m really looking forward to riding for Team Honda Racing in 2011,” former multi-time national champion Stauffer commented. “It was good to work with Paul [Free] and everyone from Motologic in 2010 and to be working with the guys again is fantastic.

“To get this opportunity with Honda and Motologic is very exciting. The CBR1000RR is a fantastic motorbike and with Motologic preparing the bikes I know I will have a great motorcycle to compete for the championship title.

“I can be sure that we will be competitive from the first time we roll the Honda onto the track.”

The return to the factory Honda team marks a homecoming of sorts for Maxwell, racing Supersport for the team in 2008 before finishing third in the Superbike title with the team in 2009.

“I am really excited to join Team Honda Racing and their partners for the 2011 ASBK Championship,” current ASBK number two Maxwell commented.

“This will be my third season under the management of the Motologic-based team and I look forward to being part of a very competitive factory-backed Honda team. Having a multiple Australian champion as my teammate is an honour and a great bench mark for me.

“The Honda CBR1000RR is a great bike finishing first, second and third in 2010 and it would be fantastic to give Honda back-to-back championships by taking out the 2011 title.”

Motologic owner and Team Honda Racing manager Paul Free looks forward to working with Stauffer and Maxwell again.

“To be back on the Honda brand with a fresh team in Team Honda Racing and two of the best riders in the country is very exciting,” Free explained. “Jamie and Wayne are going to be extremely competitive – I can’t say for sure who wants the title more!

“The preparation for the new season is well and truly underway and with the experience that both these riders possess there is every reason to believe that the Team Honda Racing CBR1000RR will be seen at the front of the field from the get go.”

General manager of motorcycles at Honda Australia, Tony Hinton, is pleased to field a factory team in the ASBK once again after a two-year hiatus.

“Honda Australia is pleased to have Wayne and Jamie onboard with us for 2011,” Hinton added. “Wayne has shown throughout 2009 and 2010 that he is a fierce competitor and I’m sure that he is looking to convert his runner-up position into a championship win in 2011.

“Jamie over the years has shown his skill on the race track by winning multiple championships – his capabilities no more evident than in 2010 where he switched to a v-twin and his competitive nature shone through again.

“All of us at Honda Australia are looking forward to success in 2011. We have a competitive bike, a competitive team in Team Honda Racing and a strong rider line-up with Jamie and Wayne. We can’t wait for 2011!”

Outgoing Motologic team rider Jordy Burgess has been confirmed for a switch to AMA Superbikes in the U.S. for 2011, while Glenn Allerton’s future remains uncertain despite riding alongside Stauffer in The 6 Hour to second at the beginning of the month for Team Honda Racing.
